Biographical Presentation
Göbler: Justinus G. (Goblerus) wurde im J. 1503 oder 1504 in dem zur hessischen Grafschaft Katzenelnbogen gehörigen Städtchen St. Goar a. Rh. geboren, studirte die Jurisprudenz und trat dann nach einander in gräflich nassauische, bischöflich münstersche und herzoglich braunschweigische Dienste. Im J. 1559 wandte er sich nach Frankfurt a. M., wurde von dem Rathe der dortigen Reichsstadt mit verschiedenen Geschäften betraut und starb daselbst am 21. April 1567. Das ihm von seinem Neffen errichtete, seine Verdienste rühmende Grabmal ist in der St. Petrikirche zu Frankfurt a. M. noch erhalten. G. hat mehreres edirt, u. A. eine gute lateinische Uebersetzung der Carolina, welche zuerst in Basel 1543, dann zu Frankfurt a. M. 1565 gedruckt wurde, eine Polizei-Reformation, welche 1548 erschien. Die Polizei-Reformation der Stadt Frankfurt a. M. gab er 1565 heraus und fügte derselben auch eine lateinische Uebersetzung des ewigen Landfriedens von Kaiser Maximilian I. von 1495 bei.
