Biographical Presentation
Potho, Mönch und Priester der Abtei Prüm¶, vielfach (z. B. von Legipont, Hist. rei litt. O. s. Bened. III, 618, Fabricius-Mansi, Bibl. Lat. Flor. 1858, V, 315) irrthümlich identificirt mit dem gleichnamigen Schriftsteller des Klosters Priefling bei Regensburg (s. o.), lebte gleich jenem in der Mitte des 12. Jahrhunderts und schrieb 1152 „De domo Dei“ oder „De statu domus Dei“, eine an Papst Eugen III. gerichtete Abhandlung über die Kirche, sowie eine kleinere „De magno domo sapientiae“. Er war, wie schon Mabillon (Ann. O. s. Bened. Libr. LXXIX Nr. 201) anmerkte, ein Gegner der Einführung des Festes Conceptionis B. M. V., auch soll er die Feste der Trinität und Transfiguration mißbilligt haben. Die genannten Schriften erschienen zu Hagenau 1532, herausgegeben von Joh. Alex. Brassicanus und in der Bibl. Max. PP. Vol. XXI.
