  • Biographical Presentation

    Grimmer: Jacob G. (Grimer), um 1510 in Antwerpen geboren, war zuerst Schüler des Matthias Kock. Er arbeitete auch mit Matthias Queburgh und trat 1547 in die Gilde der Antwerpener Maler. Seine Landschaften sind sehr naturgetreu und die darin aufgeführten Gebäude und Ruinen vorzüglich ausgeführt. Er war nicht nur ein begabter Maler, sondern besaß auch Dichter- und Schauspielertalent. Im Brüsseler Museum befindet sich von seiner Hand ein merkwürdiges Bild mit Flügeln: „Das Leben des heil. Hubert“ darstellend.
