Biographical Presentation
Munke: Georg Wilhelm M., Physiker, geb. zu Hillingsfeld bei Hameln am 28. Nov. 1772. † zu Großkmehlen, Provinz Sachsen, einem Gute seines Schwiegersohnes, am 17. Oct. 1847. Er war zuerst Inspector am Georgianum zu Hannover, dann von 1810—1817 Professor der Physik zu Marburg und von 1817 bis zu seinem Tode in Heidelberg. Unter seinen zahlreichen Veröffentlichungen, welche nicht sowol systematische Forschungen als einzelne Untersuchungen enthalten, sind wol seine Beobachtungen über die Ausdehnung und das Sieden des Wassers noch heute von Werth.
