Biographical Presentation
Guyet: Karl Julius G., Rechtsgelehrter, Sohn eines französischen Hauptmanns, geb. am 11. März 1802 zu Homburg v. d. H., † am 8. April 1861 in Jena. Nachdem er das Gymnasium zu Heidelberg besucht, studirte er seit 1818 daselbst und in Berlin die Rechte, promovirte 1823 und habilitirte sich noch in demselben Jahre in Heidelberg als Privatdocent und ward 1827 zum außerordentlichen Professor ernannt. 1836 als ordentlicher Professor und Oberappellationsgerichtsrath nach Jena berufen, wurde er 1843 Geh. Justizrath, 1856 Ordinarius der Juristenfacultät und des Schöffenstuhls. Er schrieb „Abhandlungen aus dem Gebiete des Civilrechts“ (1829) und gab mit F. Ortloff und Anderen „Juristische Abhandlungen und Rechtsfälle“ (Bd. I. 1847) heraus. Ferner besorgte er zum Druck J. K. Gensler's „Kommentar zu Martin's Lehrbuch des bürgerlichen Processes“ (1825), sowie Thibaut's „Juristischer Nachlaß“ (1841—42, 2 Bde.).
