Biographical Presentation
Lagus: Daniel, L., Astronom und Humanist, geb. im J. 1618 zu Colberg, † den 30. Mai 1678 zu Ohr bei Danzig. Er erwarb 1635 den philosophischen Magistergrad und docirte von 1640—58 am Danziger Gymnasium Mathematik, Physik, Logik, Poesie und Griechisch. Nachdem er (1653) auch Doctor der Theologie geworden war, wurde er 1658 als Professor dieser Wissenschaft nach Greifswald berufen, zog sich aber gegen das Ende seines Lebens wieder nach Danzig zurück. Lagus' Schriften gehören verschiedenen Disciplinen an; wir nennen als die hauptsächlichsten die Dissertation „De hypathesibus astronomicis in genere“ (Regiomonti 1635), die „Thematum uranographicorumpentas I.“ (Gedani 1641) und endlich die „Theoria meteorologica“ (Gedani 1650).
