  • Biographical Presentation

    Mehlhorn: Johann Christian M. oder Melhorn, geb. den 12. December 1698 zu Chemnitz, studirte zu Wittenberg und Leipzig, wurde 1724 Pastor zu Gelenau bei Annaberg, kam 1743 als Superintendent nach Weida und 1751 als Superintendent, Pastor prim. und Director der Schulen nach Delitzsch, wo er am 14. Februar 1760 starb. Er gab im J. 1761 das Gelenau’sche Gesangbuch heraus, welches sich für die damalige Zeit durch Genauigkeit der Texte und allerhand brauchbare hymnologische Zuthaten auszeichnete und im J. 1744 in Weida wieder aufgelegt ist. Er hat auch selbst Lieder gedichtet, welche sich in dem genannten und in dem Delitzscher Gesangbuch finden.
