    Becmann: Christian B., protestantischer Theolog und Schulmann, geb. 20. Sept. 1580 zu Steinbach im Meißnischen, studirt seit 1599 in Leipzig, wird 1608 Schulrector zu Naumburg, Mühlhausen, Amberg; 1625 im dreißigjährigen Kriege durch Kurfürst Max von Baiern von da Vertrieben, flüchtete er mit Lebensgefahr nach Bernburg, wird zuletzt Superintendent in Zerbst und Lehrer der Theologie am Gymnasium daselbst, 17. März 1648. Außer philologischen und logischen Lehrbüchern (z. B. „Manuductio ad linguam latinam“, 1607, „De origine l. lat.“, 1609) schrieb er auch theologische Streitschriften, z. B. über die Lehre von der Ubiquität ("Anatomia universalis triumphans") gegen die Socinianer u. A., „Opuscula varia“, Hanov. 1619. — Er ist der Vater des berühmteren Theologen und Historikers Johann Christoph Becmann, geb. 1641, s. Becmann, Anhaltische Historie Th. VII. S. 325 ff.; Freher, Theatr. erudit.
