Biographical Presentation
Johann IV., Graf von Nassau-Dillenburg, Vianden, Diez etc., der älteste Sohn des 1413 gestorbenen Engelbert I. von Nassau-Dillenburg etc. und Johanna's van der Leck, welche ihrem Manne die Baronie von Breda sowie die Herrschaften Polanen, Gertruidenberg und Zevenbergen zubrachte. Geboren 1410 gehörte J. zu den vertrauten Räthen Philipps von Burgund, dem er bei dem erneuten Ausbruch der Hoek-Kabeljau’schen Zwistigkeiten in|Holland den Rath gab, die Städteregierungen aus einer gleichen Anzahl von Anhängern beider Parteien zu bilden. In dem Streit mit Gent (1451) stand er seinem Herrn treu zur Seite und unter Karl dem Kühnen war er Gouverneur von Brabant. Er starb am 3. Febr. 1475 in Dillenburg und wurde in Breda beigesetzt.
