Biographical Presentation
Neyts: Aegidius (Gillis) N. (seltener Nyts), Landschaftsmaler und Radirer, verheirathete sich am 27. Juni 1643 zu Antwerpen mit Clara de la Port, wurde im Winter 1647 daselbst in der St. Lucasgilde als Meister aufgenommen und starb, wie es scheint, im April 1687. Im Museum zu Stockholm ist von ihm eine Flußlandschaft (von 1641), in der Dresdener Galerie zeigt man zwei andere Landschaften, eine von 1681. Diese Bilder sind mit sehr sorglichem Pinsel ausgeführt. Bekannter ist er als Radirer von Landschaften, als welcher er die van Uden’sche Richtung fortsetzt, vermischt mit Callot’schen Einflüssen; Bartsch und Weigel beschreiben diese Blätter. Auch fein, aber gleich seinen Gemälden und Radierungen etwas conventionell behandelte Zeichnungen kommen von ihm öfter vor.
