  • Biography

    A. gründete 1687 eine Leinen- und Seidenbandfabrik in Köln. Unter dem Druck der Zünfte und des katholischen Großhandels siedelte er 1714 mit neun anderen lutherischen Kaufleuten nach Mülheim/Rhein im Herzogtum Berg über, das zum Nutznießer der wirtschaftlich-konfessionellen Auseinandersetzungen in der benachbarten Reichsstadt geworden ist. A. erhielt ein kurfürstliches Herstellungsprivileg für seine Fabrik und trieb daneben Kommissions- und Weinhandel, der von seinen Söhnen fortgeführt wurde.
