Biographical Presentation
Cotovicius: Johann van C., auch Kootwyck, lebte um 1600, war Doctor der Rechte zu Utrecht und Johanniterordensritter, hatte schon in der Jugend große Neigung zu reisen und machte auch später große Reisen in Italien, Frankreich, Deutschland, England und namentlich im Orient. Von ihm ist nur ein Buch über Jerusalem bekannt, welches den Titel führt: „Itinerarium Hierosolymitanum et Syriacum, in quo variorum gentium mores et instituta, Insularum, Regionum, Urbium situs, omnia ex prisci recentiorisque seculi usu, una cum eventis, quae Auctori terra marique acciderunt, dilucide recensentur“, 1619, über sein Leben jedoch findet sich keine Aufzeichnung.
