    Christiani: Arthur Ch., Physiologe, geboren am 30. December 1843 in Fürstenwalde, † als außerordentlicher Universitätsprofessor der Physiologie zu Berlin am 1. Dec. 1887, studirte und promovirte 1867 in Berlin. Er ließ sich darauf als Arzt daselbst nieder, beschäftigte sich neben der Praxis viel mit mathematischen und physikalischen Studien, trat 1877 als Assistent der physikalischen Abtheilung in das physiologische Institut ein, habilitirte sich 1879 als Privatdocent und erlangte 1880 die außerordentliche Professur, die er bis zu seinem Ableben bekleidete. Ch. veröffentlichte monographisch: „Beiträge zur Elektricitätslehre“ (Berlin 1878); außerdem verschiedene Journalabhandlungen über Resonanz aperiodisirter Resonatoren (1879), Athemcentren und Coordinationscentrum im 3. Ventrikel und in den Vierhügeln (1880), über Absorption des Schalles durch Resonatoren (1882) u. a. m.
