    Wiegleb: Johann Christian W., geboren am 21. December 1732 in Langensalza, † am 16. Januar 1800 daselbst. Er war Apotheker in seiner Vaterstadt und bekleidete dort zugleich das Amt eines Senators und zuletzt das des Oberkämmerers. Von seinen außerordentlich zahlreichen Veröffentlichungen seien nur die wichtigeren erwähnt: „Chem. Versuche über die alkalischen Salze“ (Berlin 1774); „Neuer Begriff von der Gährung“ (Weimar 1776); „Histor.-krit. Unters. der Alchemie oder eingebildeten Goldmacherkunst" (ebd. 1777); „Handbuch der allg. und angewandten Chemie“ (ebd. 1781, 3. Aufl. 1796); „Geschichte des Wachsthums und der Erfind. in der Chemie in der neueren Zeit“ (Berlin 1790—91), in der ältesten und mittleren Zeit (ebd. 1792); „Teutsches Apothekerbuch“ (mit J. T. C. Schlegel, 1793, 3. Aufl. 1797); „Revision der Grundlehren von der chem. Verwandtschaft der Körper“, „Lehrbegriff vom Phlogiston“ (Crell's Annalen 1785); Act. Acad. Mogunt. (1778—79). Außerdem zahlreiche Arbeiten über die chemische Natur von Mineralien, meist in Crell's Annalen.
