  • Biographical Presentation

    Heineken: Johann H., Sohn des Professors und Physikus Philipp Isaac H., geb. zu Bremen am 26. October 1761, gest. daselbst am 17. Jan. 1851. Er promovirte 1783 zu Groningen, wurde 1786 in seiner Vaterstadt zum Professor der Anatomie und Experimentalphysik am Gymnasium illustre ernannt und folgte seinem Vater in dem Amte als Stadtphysikus nach. Er gab verschiedene kleine medicinische Schriften heraus und lieferte Beiträge zu den von Hufeland und Horn geleiteten Fachjournalen. Durch Arnold Wienholt wurde er seit 1792 für die Versuche mit dem sogenannten thierischen Magnetismus interessirt, mit denen er sich später vielfach beschäftigte. Bis an sein Lebensende war er von der Realität des magnetischen Schlafwandels und der verwandten Erscheinungen überzeugt.
