Biographical Presentation
Cellius: Erhard C., Professor der Beredsamkeit und Geschichte in Tübingen 1582—1606, geboren 1546 zu Zell bei Pfeddersheim in der Pfalz, hieß ursprünglich Ehrhard Horn, wurde aber später von seinem Geburtsort Cellius genannt; erhielt seine Gymnasialbildung in Mainz und Düsseldorf. Studirte 1564—67 in Tübingen und erwarb in letzterem Jahre daselbst die Magisterwürde, wurde 1568 Rector des Contuberniums daselbst und 1582 an die Stelle des nach Laibach abgegangenen Nicodemus Frischlin außerordentlicher Professor der Artistenfacultät, 1587 ordentlicher und starb als solcher 1606. Er ist der Verfasser vieler akademischer Gelegenheitsschriften und gab eine Sammlung von kurzen Lebensbeschreibungen der Tübinger Professoren von 1577—1595 mit selbstgefertigten Holzschnitten heraus, die unter dem Titel: „Imagines professorum Tubingensium“ in seinem Verlag erschienen sind, übrigens nur geringen Werth haben. Seine Vorlesungen hatten die Erklärung griechischer und römischer Classiker, Rhetorik und Geschichte zum Gegenstand, galten übrigens für langweilig.
