  • Biographical Presentation

    Bos: Cornelius B. oder Bosch, auch Bus, Kupferstecher, geb. um 1510 zu Herzogenbusch, ließ sich in Rom nieder, wo er einen Kunsthandel begründete. Seine ziemlich zahlreichen Stiche nähern sich theils der Manier der deutschen Kleinmeister (Seb. Beham u. a.), theils der des Marcanton, sind indessen von geringerem Kunstwerth: er konnte weder die feine Ausführung der erstern, noch die edle Zeichnung und harmonische Durchbildung des letzteren erreichen, er blieb oberflächlich. Er stach nach eigenen Zeichnungen, dann nach Rafael, Giulio Romano, Giovanni da Udine, Tizian, Lambertus Lombardus, Martin van Heemskerk, Frans Floris u. A. Im J. 1564 entstand noch ein Stich nach Floris, bald darauf indessen dürfte der Künstler gestorben sein.
