Biographical Presentation
Seit etwa 1300 im Rat nachweisbares Patriziergeschlecht, von dem Angehörige als Beamte und Staatsmänner sowie Offiziere zu finden sind in der Schweiz, vor allem in Bern, aber auch im Ausland. →Johann Rudolf (1584–1648) war Landvogt in Unterseen und verfaßte mathematische Schriften und Traktate über Sonnenuhren. →Emanuel (1726–87), Verfasser landwirtschaftlicher Bücher, gab Anstoß zur Einsetzung einer Ratskommission für die Bodenverbesserung. →Karl Wilhelm (1834–1909), Sekretär A. Eschers bei der Gründung der Nord-Ostbahn, verhandelte als solcher in Berlin und Rom, gründete die Spinnerei Felsenau, die erste größere Industrieanlage in Bern.
