Biographical Presentation
In der Kattunfabrik eines Freundes lernte A. die Blaudruckerei mit Formen kennen und wandte zuerst in Deutschland dies Verfahren auf die fabrikmäßige Herstellung von Papiertapeten an (seit 1789). Da er die Muster seiner Tapeten selbst entwarf, zeigen seine Erzeugnisse gegenüber den späteren Fabriktapeten, denen besonders französische und englische Muster als Vorbild dienten, einen eigenen deutschen Charakter. A. war kurfürstlich hessischer Kommerzienrat und Ratsverwandter der Stadt Kassel.
