  • Biographical Presentation

    B. studierte seit 1873 an der Universität und TH München Mathematik und Physik. Seit 1888 lehrte er hier (1892 ordentlicher Professor) synthetische Geometrie, Trigonometrie und algebraische Analyse und ab 1903 höhere Mathematik. Seit 1893/94 las B. aus eigener Initiative über Mathematikgeschichte. Er war um die Jahrhundertwende, neben M. Cantor und M. Curtze, der führende Mathematikhistoriker Deutschlands, dem man viele neue Einsichten und wertvolle Anregungen verdankt.
