  • Biographical Presentation

    Nach Studien in München, Berlin und Würzburg stieg A. vom Assistenten zum Oberbergrat (1902) und Oberbergdirektor am Oberbergamt München auf; er war Honorarprofessor an der Technischen Hochschule, wo er vornehmlich über Paläontologie las. Als Nachfolger W. von Gümbels wurde er Vorstand der geognostischen Landesuntersuchungsanstalt Bayerns. A. setzte das von Gümbel begonnene Werk der geologischen Beschreibung und Kartierung Bayerns fort.
