  • Biographical Presentation

    Friedrich (1786–1859), gelernter Drogenkaufmann, entwickelte aus seiner 1808 gegründeten Drogen- und Chemikalienhandlung heraus eine eigene Fabrikation pflanzlicher Arznei- und Wirkstoffe, zunächst in Form von Tinkturen und Extrakten, dann – unter Vervollkommnung der technischen Ausstattung und der chemischen Kenntnisse von den Drogeninhaltsstoffen – in Form isolierter reiner Wirkstoffe, vor allem Chinin, Morphium und Santonin, später auch in Gestalt pharmazeutischer Fertigpräparate. Er leitete als einer der ersten die industrielle Arzneimittelherstellung der deutschen Pharma-Industrie ein.
