Biographical Presentation
Nach theologischen und philologischen Studien in Wittenberg und Leipzig habilitierte sich A. 1800 in Wittenberg und hielt philosophische, altphilologische und alttestamentliche Vorlesungen. Seit 1803 wirkte er als Konrektor, 1809-54 als Rektor am Gymnasium in Görlitz. Nebenamtlich verwaltete er ein halbes Jahrhundert lang die Milichsche Bibliothek. Seine zahlreichen Schriften gehören der klassischen, besonders griechischen Philologie, der alt- und neutestamentlichen Theologie, der Reformations- und Schulgeschichte, Philosophie, Volkskunde und Mathematik an.
