Biography
Beyer: Johann Samuel B., Componist und Musikschriftsteller in der ersten Hälfte des 18. Jahrhunderts, geb. zu Gotha, Cantor und Schulcollege zu Weißenfels, darauf Cantor und Musikdirector zu Freiberg, † 1744. Seine von 1703—30 erschienenen Werke sind: „Primae lineae musicae vocalis“ (Gesangsschule für die Jugend mit Canons, Fugen, Arien etc. als Beispielen, und einem Verzeichnisse musikalischer Kunstwörter) 1703; eine zweite Auflage, durch Weglassung der Beispiele sehr gekürzt, 1730; „Musikalischer Vorrath neu variirter Fest-Choral-Gesänge, auf dem Clavier, in Canto und Basso“ etc., Freiberg, Th. I|1716; Theil II und III 1719; „Geistliche musikalische Seelenfreude“ (72 Concertarien 2 voc. und 5 Instrum.), 1724.
