Ammelburg, Heinrich Alfred Ammende, Ewald

  • Biographical Presentation

    A., Kaufmann und Vorsteher der Armenschule, widmete sich der Elbinger Historiographie und schrieb die „Elbingische Kriegesfama“ (vor 1772) und „Versuch einer historischen Beschreibung der Stadt Elbing“ (um 1786). Die Rupson-Dewitz’sche Chronik setzte er bis 1796 fort und sammelte Nadirichtenund Bildmaterial (u. a. 4 Bände Urkunden), auch Münzen, Siegel und Wappen. Sein|Wappenwerk erhebt sich beträchtlich über ältere Arbeiten dieser Art, überhaupt zeichnet er sich durch freien Blick und Vielseitigkeit aus.
