Altes Ratsgeschlecht in Gießen, aus dem unter anderem hervorgingen: →Kaspar (1595–1664), Professor der Logik und Metaphysik in Marburg und Gießen (siehe ADB V), →Georg Daniel (1601–52), Dr. iur., hessischer Vizekanzler in Gießen (siehe Strieder), →Karl (1868–1933), Professor und Direktor der Universitätsbibliothek in Gießen (siehe Rhdb.). Die niedersächsische Linie kam über schaumburgische Dienste nach Hessisch-Oldendorf und dann nach Göttingen.
