  • Biographical Presentation

    Thyraeus: Hermann Th., katholischer Theolog, geboren zu Neuß im J. 1532, † zu Mainz am 26. October 1591. Er war einer der ersten Zöglinge des deutschen Collegs in Rom, wurde am 16. Mai 1556 in den Orden der Gesellschaft Jesu von deren Stifter aufgenommen, noch im selben Jahre Professor der Theologie in Ingolstadt, kam nach einigen Jahren nach Trier zuerst als|Professor, dann als Rector des Collegs, welchen Posten er mit dem des Collegs zu Mainz vertauschte, wo er auch Provincial der rheinischen Ordensprovinz war. Er hat nur einige Schriften hinterlassen, welche besonders gegen die Augsburgische Confession gerichtet sind.
