  • Biographical Presentation

    König: Johann Friedrich K., geb. den 1. April 1798 in Labischin bei Bromberg, den 9. September 1865 in Königsberg. In letzterer Stadt spielte sich nahezu sein ganzes Leben ab, denn er besuchte daselbst das Gymnasium bis 1818, studirte unter Bessel Mathematik und Astronomie und ward schon 1819 als Hülfslehrer an der Domschule verwendet. 1821 ward er wirklicher Lehrer, 1831 zweiter, 1845 erster Oberlehrer, nachdem er bereits sechs Jahre früher den Professortitel erhalten hatte. Im J. 1862 plötzlich erblindet, erlangte er 1864 durch eine glückliche Operation das Augenlicht wieder und begann mit frischem Muthe seine Lehrthätigkeit von Neuem, aus welcher ihn der Tod überraschend schnell abrief. Eine Reihe mathematischer Aufsätze von ihm finden sich in Grunert's Archiv, einer derselben, in welchem interessante neue Sätze über die Kettenbrüche und deren zahlentheoretische Anwendungen enthalten sind, erschien auch 1849 als eine selbständige Abhandlung.
