    Elwert: Eduard E., protestantischer Theolog, geb. zu Canstatt 22. Febr. 1805, † ebendaselbst 9. Juni 1865, studirte und war Repetent in Tübingen, wurde 1832 Diaconus in Nagold, 1836 Professor der Theologie, zuerst in Zürich 1836—37, darauf, nach Bekleidung einer Pfarrstelle in der Heimath, zu Tübingen 1839—41, gesundheitshalber wieder Pfarrer bis 1850, zuletzt bis wenige Wochen vor seinem Tode Ephorus des theologischen Seminars in Schönthal. E. war unter den seiner Zeit zahlreichen Jüngern Schleiermacher's in Schwaben der feinste und tiefste, dabei ein guter Philolog, hat aber außer Beiträgen in verschiedenen Zeitschriften (besonders zu nennen: „Ueber den Begriff der Religion“, in der Tübinger Zeitschrift für Theologie, 1835) und Programmen, nichts geschrieben, als die Dissertation: „De antinomia Jo. Agricolae“, Turici 1836.
