Biographical Presentation
Pittroff: Franz Christian P., katholischer Theologe, geb. am 25. Mai 1739 zu Karlsbad, † am 7. Juli 1814 zu Prag. Er trat am 11. November 1760 zu Prag in den Orden der Kreuzherren ein, wurde im September 1762 zum Priester geweiht, einige Jahre in der Seelsorge beschäftigt, 1773 Professor der Exegese, 1775 der Pastoraltheologie in Prag. 1783 wurde er Prior in Prag. 1786 Comthur und Pfarrer in Eger, 1810 Großmeister seines Ordens. Seine Schriften gehören der damals in Oesterreich herrschenden sog. Josephinischen Richtung an: „Anleitung zur praktischen Gottesgelehrtheit“, 4 Theile, 1778 (2. Aufl. 1782); „Kirchenamtspolitik“, 2 Theile, 1785; „Dissertatio de prudentia pastorali S. Pauli“, 1782.
