Biographical Presentation
Gemeinsamer Ahne aller Folgenden ist Jürgen Claussen (1627–1715). Außer den unten behandelten Persönlichkeiten gehören der Familie noch an: der Bildnismaler →August Theodor Classen (1804–81) in Hamburg (siehe ThB) und die beiden Brüder Georg Heinrich (1828 bis 1912) und →Heinrich Claussen (1825–1908), Vetter von Georg siehe (1), Kaufleute und Teilhaber der Überseehandlung und Reederei Albers in Bremen; Georg Heinrich erwarb sich besondere Verdienste um den von ihm mit ins Leben gerufenen Bremer Bauverein. Zahlreiche Mitglieder der Familie waren in Hamburg, Bremen, Rußland (Archangelsk) und Amerika als Kaufleute tätig.
