  • Biographical Presentation

    A. war ursprünglich Volksschullehrer in Neuruppin und seit 1869 in Berlin. Er wurde dort 1881 Rektor, doch 1893 im Disziplinarwege aus dem Schuldienst entfernt. 1892 bis 1902 war er Mitglied des deutschen Reichstages. Mit Otto Boeckel gab er die Zeitschrift „Deutsches Volksrecht“ heraus und gründete mit ihm die Antisemitische Volkspartei. In verleumderischen Broschüren und als politischer Redner in Deutschland und den USA (1896 erfolgloses Auftreten in New York) trat er, der spöttisch als „Rektor aller Deutschen“ bezeichnet wurde, für den Antisemitismus ein. Wegen seiner Schrift „Judenflinten“ (1892), in der er die Gewehrfabrik →Ludwig Loewe angegriffen hatte, wurde A. zu fünf Monaten Gefängnis verurteilt und aus seiner Partei ausgeschlossen. Die Prozesse um diese Schrift riefen zahlreiche Flugschriften hervor.
