Biographical Presentation
Agricola: Ignaz A., geb. 31. Juli 1661 zu Zusamaltheim im Augsburger Bisthum, trat 28. Sept. 1677 in den Jesuiten-Orden, studirte im selben 3 Jahre Philosophie und 4 Jahre Theologie, lehrte im Orden 2 Jahre lang Grammatik, 2 Jahre Poetik, 7 Jahre Rhetorik und 2 Jahre Logik und scheint besonders in München thätig gewesen zu sein, wo er um 1719 Präses der „Sodalitas major“ war und 23. Jan. 1729 starb. Die 4 Ordensgelübde hatte er 2. Febr. 1695 abgelegt. Ein unbestreitbares Verdienst erwarb er sich|durch seine vorzügliche mit Fleiß und Ausdauer auf Befehl seiner Obern gearbeitete „Historia Provinciae Societatis Jesu Germaniae superioris, quinque primas annorum complexa decades“, 1727, deren zweiter Theil, die Periode von 1591—1600 umfassend, in seinem Todesjahre erschien. Das Werk ist eine bleibende Quelle zur Kenntniß dieser Ordensprovinz.
