  • Biographical Presentation

    Keller: Johannes K., Augsburgischer Buchdrucker im J. 1478. Wie bei seinem Zunftgenossen Ambrosius Keller (vgl. d.), so fehlen auch über ihn alle und jede biographischen Nachrichten und möglicherweise ist Johannes K. der Vater des Ambrosius. Und wie von dem letzteren bis jetzt nur fünf Drucke bekannt geworden sind, so von Johannes nur ein einziger. Dieser ist ein lateinisch-deutsches Wörterbuch in Folio und führt den Titel: „Vocabularius Rerum"; die Schlußschrift lautet: „Ex officina Johannis Keller in Augusta ... M.CCCC.LXXVIII.“ Nach Panzer's Zeugniß giebt es Exemplare, welche die lateinische Jahrzahl 1468 tragen, aber es liegt außer allem Zweifel, daß bei diesen eines der zwei Zahlzeichen X durch einen Druckfehler ausgefallen ist.
