Biographical Presentation
Gunterus de Winrikesleve begegnet 1215 als Deutschordensbruder in Akkon, 1234 (Guntherus de Wilrichsleiben) im Gefolge des Deutschmeisters Heinrich von Hohenlohe, er begleitet ihn auch, als dieser Hochmeister geworden war, 1246 nach Preußen. Er wird 1250 Hohenlohes Nachfolger. In keiner Urkunde seiner Hochmeisterzeit wird er namentlich genannt, sein Name als Hochmeister ist nur aus Nekrologen bekannt. Seine Identität mit Gunter, Komtur in Brindisi 1218, Deutschordensmarschall 1228, 1230, Landkomtur von Apulien 1240, 1244, ist nicht ausgeschlossen. G. hätte dann eine lange wechselvolle Laufbahn gehabt, ehe er das höchste Amt erreichte.
