Biographical Presentation
D. gehörte zur Umgebung des Iren Virgil, der von dem Bayernherzog Odilo 747 zur Leitung des Bistums Salzburg berufen wurde, sich aber erst am 15.6.755 zum Bischof weihen ließ; bis dahin bekleidete er die Abtswürde im Kloster Sankt Peter¶ in Salzburg und ließ nach irischer Weise die bischöflichen Funktionen durch D. wahrnehmen. Diese Irregularität hat zu dem Konflikt zwischen Bonifatius und Virgil beigetragen. Erwähnungen in jüngeren Urkunden zufolge war D. Abt des Klosters Chiemsee¶, für das er unter Beeinträchtigung von Rechten der Freisinger Kirche Güter erwarb. Das Diplom Karls des Großen vom 25.10.788, durch das Chiemsee an Sankt Stephan in Metz übertragen wurde, spricht von D. als ehemaligem Inhaber der Abtei.
