    Grob: (David) Adrian G., Dramatiker, ein Urenkel von Johannes G. (s. u.), geb. 1772 zu Lufingen im Canton Zürich; wohnte mit seinen Eltern in Rastatt, erlernte die Zuckerbäckerei, ließ sich 1792 in ein französisches Regiment aufnehmen. 1798 wurde er Zeughausverwalter in Herisau und Chef der Artillerie; er vertheidigte 1799 die Bodenseeküste gegen die feindliche Flotte Williams, trat in den Dienst der helvetischen Interimsregierung, mußte aber vor den einrückenden französischen Truppen nach Turin flüchten. In die Schweiz zurückgekehrt, ließ er sich in St. Gallen als Conditor nieder, erhielt 1804 die Verwaltung des Zeughauses und stieg bis zum Range eines Oberstlieutenants der Artillerie. Er starb am 9. August 1836 in St. Gallen. „Sigmund's Vorlesungen“ (1832) bilden eine Art von Selbstbiographie Grob's. Seine Dramen sind zum Theil der Schweizer Geschichte entnommen und direct aus Johannes von Müller geschöpft.
