Tettenborn war Mitglied der Abt. II (militärisch organisierte Turnerschaft) der Parteileitung der DVF und Gutsbesitzer in Lauske ; Kr. Löbau. Zudem hatte er den militärischen Rang eines Hauptmann z.V.. Er nahm 1920 am Kapp-Putsch teil. 1923 war er Mitglied der verbotenen NSDAP. Im Juli 1923 wird er in Oberschlesien verhaftet und nach Leipzig überstellt. Im Dezember 1923 heiratete er in Wandsbek.
