    Schmid: Joseph Anton S., katholischer Theologe, geboren 1827 zu Heideck in der Oberpfalz, † am 9. März 1881 in München. Er wurde 1851 zum Priester geweiht, 1852 Docent und 1853 Professor der Exegese und der hebräischen Sprache am Lyceum in Eichstätt, 1858 Pfarrer zu Schrobenhausen, 1867 Domherr in Bamberg, 1868 zugleich Professor der Dogmatik am dortigen Lyceum. Von 1863 bis zu seinem Tode war er Mitglied des bairischen Landtags, von 1871 an regelmäßig Referent für den Etat des Cultusministeriums, in den beiden ersten Sessionen auch Mitglied des deutschen Reichstags. Seine Schriften sind: „Das Buch der Weisheit, übersetzt und erklärt“, 1858; „Kirche und Bibel“, 1862.
