Biographical Presentation
Oesler: Christoph Otto Oe., Arzt, geb. in Stettin am 19. December 1602 als Sohn des pommerschen Hofraths Jeremias Oe., studirte von 1625—1631 in Greifswald und Leyden und wurde, nachdem er an der letzteren Universität promovirt und darnach längere Reisen nach Dänemark und Preußen gemacht, auch in England, Frankreich und Italien die hohen Schulen besucht hatte, 1637 ordentlicher Professor der Medicin in Greifswald, trat aber noch in demselben Jahre als Leibarzt in die Dienste des Herzogs Friedrich von Holstein. Der Kriegsunruhen wegen zog er sich 1645 in seine Geburtsstadt Stettin zurück und fungirte daselbst als angesehener Arzt bis an seinen im April 1657 erfolgenden Tod. Seine zahlreichen medicinischen Schriften haben wol nur noch historischen Werth.
