Biographical Presentation
Stockhausen: Johann Christoph St., Sohn des Anton Daniel St. († 1746 als Metropolitan in Kirtorf), geboren am 20. Oct. 1725 zu Gladenbach bei Marburg, studirte in Gießen (seit 1741) und Jena (seit 1744) Philosophie und Theologie. 1752 wurde er 2. Lehrer und 1761 Rector des Johanneums in Lüneburg, 1767 Rector des Pädagogiums in Darmstadt, 1769 am 6. August Superintendent und 1. Stadtpfarrer in Hanau, woselbst er am 1. September 1784 starb. — Seine Schriften sind anfänglich meist Programme und Reden (pädagogischen, philosophischen und rhetorischen Inhalts), später Predigten. 1778 gründete er das Hanauer Magazin, von dem er die ersten 6 Bände (bis 1783) redigirte.
