Biographical Presentation
Gugler: J. Bernhard von G., Mathematiker, geboren am 5. März 1812 in Nürnberg, † am 12. März 1880 in Stuttgart, woselbst er Vorstand der Fachschule für Mathematik und Naturwissenschaften am Polytechnikum war. Ohne daß man G. zu den erfindungsreichen Mathematikern zu zählen hätte, ist ihm doch eine bleibende Erinnerung dadurch gesichert, daß er nächst Guido Schreiber, welcher seit 1827 der darstellenden Geometrie am Polytechnikum in Karlsruhe dauernden Eingang verschaffte, sich das gleiche Verdienst für das Polytechnikum in Stuttgart erwarb. Er vertrat dort dieses Fach während annähernd 40 Jahren, und sein Lehrbuch der darstellenden Geometrie erschien im Todesjahre des Verfassers in 4. Auflage.
