Biographical Presentation
Saltzmann: Johann Rudolf S., Arzt, ist 1573 zu Straßburg geboren, studirte und promovirte vermuthlich in seiner Vaterstadt, wo er auch sein ganzes Leben hindurch bis zu seinem im Alter von 83 Jahren am 11. December 1656 erfolgten Tode als Arzt, Professor an der med. Facultät und Decan des Capitels Saint-Thomas wirkte. Seine schriftstellerische Thätigkeit war nicht besonders umfangreich. Es rühren im ganzen von ihm nur etwa 20 kleinere Dissertationen und akademische Gelegenheitsschriften her, von denen nur die auf pathologischanatomische Mittheilungen sich beziehenden ein gewisses historisches Interesse auch heute noch besitzen.
