  • Biographical Presentation

    B. lernte frühzeitig in der Firma und mußte schon 1871 den Verlag übernehmen, der sich unter seiner Leitung zu einer ansehnlichen Größe entwickelte; besonders auf dem Gebiet der Oper und Operette nahm er eine führende Stellung ein. B. erwarb sich daneben große Verdienste auf dem Gebiete des Urheberrechts und war mitbeteiligt an der Gründung der GEMA, der Genossenschaft zur Verwertung musikalischer Aufführungsrechte. 1904 kaufte er den Verlag Lauterbach & Kuhn, Leipzig, und konnte somit das gesamte Schaffen Max Regers ab op. 66 für seinen Verlag erwerben.
