Biographical Presentation
Brand: Johann Georg B., Mathematiker, geb. zu Eschwege in Hessen am 4. April 1645, † zu Marburg 31. Oct. 1703. Er war der Sohn eines Rathsherrn von Eschwege, studirte Theologie, Philosophie und Mathematik in Marburg, wo er auch die verschiedensten gelehrten Würden bekleidete. Schon 1673 wurde er Doctor Theologiae, 1679 außerordentlicher, 1682 ordentlicher Professor der Mathematik, 1687 Professor der Logik und Metaphysik.
