Biographical Presentation
Gruytrode: Jacob v. G., von deutscher Herkunft und Prior des Carthäuser-Conventes bei Lüttich. Er starb den 11. Februar 1482 und hinterließ eine große Zahl erbaulicher, sowie ascetisch-moralischer Schriften, die hauptsächlich für Ordensleute berechnet waren. Wenn das Verzeichniß das Trithemius gibt, genau ist, so waren es folgende: „De veris virtutibus," „De septem peccatis mortalibus", „De quatuor novissimis", „Sermones de tempore et de sanctis“, „Epistolae ad diversos“, endlich eine Moral für die verschiedenen Stände unter dem Titel „Specula“, die aus folgenden einzelnen Abtheilungen Specula praelatorum, subditorum, sacerdotum, saecularium hominum und senectutis bestand.
